Fall in October #6- Hoheikyu Dam

"This beautiful arched dam surrounded by primeval forests is in the uppermost stream of the Toyohira River. Visitors can see the dynamic flows of water discharged from the dam between June and October. Leaves begin to turn red around mid-September and look beautiful against the steep cliffs with columnar joints."

Located between Sapporo and Otaru, we made our way there on our way to Otaru.

It looks like this in Summer...

However, as the sun was really bright and in our eyes, I can’t take nice picture of the autumn leaves. Not that there were much.. Most of the leaves on the dam have already withered and only branches were left.

Lucky for this….

It made the trip up there worth it.
